2017 Toyota 4Runner

Yokem Toyota proudly presents the all new 2017 Toyota 4Runner. To find middle ground between its off-road-ready TRD Pro models and its standard SUVs, Toyota is adding two new trims to the 2017 Toyota 4Runner – the TRD Off-Road and TRD Off-Road Premium. The new models bring more features and style to the already-capable SUV. Both TRD Off-Road models get the Multi-Terrain Select system and Crawl Control program standard, which are offered as an optional extra on the current SR5 model. The Multi-Terrain system lets the driver select a mode to match terrain conditions, while the Crawl Control program uses the SUV's brakes and throttle to maintain a constant speed over rugged terrain. Both models can be equipped with the optional Kinetic Dynamic Suspension System that increases wheel travel at low speeds for greater off-roading prowess.

In addition to these features, the TRD Off-Road models benefit from bespoke badges on the C-Pillar and floor mats. Both SUVs ride on concave seven-spoke alloy wheels, while red TRD stitching is prominently displayed on the front headrests. The 2017 TRD Pro model, which will carry over mostly unchanged besides a new paint color, is fitted with TRD Bilstein® shocks, TRD-tune front springs, and 17-inch matte-black TRD wheels to help it stand out from the new models. The two new TRD Off-Road models will be added to the 2017 4Runner's new lineup, which include the SR5, SR5 Premium, Limited, and TRD Pro. Pricing for the models will be announced later this year.

The current generation of this body-on-packaging SUV is powered by a 4.0-liter V6 engine delivering 270 horses and 278 lb-ft of torque. Official details about the engine powering the 2017 model haven’t been announced. If the carmaker wants the 2017 Toyota 4Runner to stay competitive, it will have to do something with the power-plant. Maybe we will be offered an upgraded version of the V6 or maybe a new V8 will be offered. Stop by Yokem Toyota today and come check out the all new 2017 Toyota 4Runner and take it for a test drive today!

2017 Toyota Camry Adds More Equipment At No Extra Cost

Yokem Toyota proudly presents the 2017 Toyota Camry. Everybody loves something for nothing. That’s what Toyota is giving to the people who buy a 2017 Camry—a slew of additional equipment for last year’s price. A smattering of additional electronics hits the mid- and up-level Camry XSE (four-cylinder model) and XLE, as well as the Camry XLE hybrid. All three get Qi wireless phone charging; the XSE and XLE further add Toyota’s Entune infotainment display with navigation and a JBL audio system.
The starting price of all Camrys remains the same for 2017. The base four-cylinder LE still starts at $23,905 with the SE ringing in at $24,675; the upgraded XSE and XLE both demand the same $27,145 as before. (Adding the V-6 to the latter two models again will cost you another $5060.) The hybrid’s entry-level LE trim is $27,625, the SE is $28,830, and the XLE’s ticket remains $30,975.

Under the hood, most buyers will find a modest 2.5-liter inline-4 that makes 178 horsepower, which is the base powerplant. That engine is mated to a conventional 6-speed automatic (many competitors now use continuously variable transmissions) that helps wring out the best from the busy 4-cylinder. The engine isn't overwhelming, but it should be fine for most commuters. Stop by Yokem Toyota today and come check out the all new 2017 Toyota Camry and take it for a test drive!

The All New 2017 Toyota Sienna

Yokem Toyota proudly presents the all new 2017 Toyota Sienna. This year marks the Toyota Sienna’s seventh and final model year before a next-generation version arrives, so the current van understandably is showing signs of age. Compared with fresher competitors, it offers fewer ways for the kids to stay connected, fewer clever bins, and 100 percent fewer options for a vacuum cleaner than you’ll find in a Honda Odyssey or a Chrysler Pacifica. And its styling does little to disguise its minivan-ness for those who’d rather be seen driving anything else.

The Sienna’s V-6 and six-speed automatic have delivered praiseworthy power over the years, lending it class-leading acceleration. Perhaps it was a bit coarse at high rpm and fuel economy could’ve been better, but those were minor grievances. And yet the Toyota minivan enters its swan-song year boasting a new engine. Its displacement is the same, but this aluminum 3.5-liter V-6 shared with the 2017 Toyota Highlander produces 296 horsepower and 263 lb-ft of torque, up from 266 and 245.

Only about 50 pounds has been added to the curb weight, so it’s easy to expect the 2017 Sienna to outdo the 2016 edition’s best-in-class zero-to-60-mph time of 7.3 seconds (a dead heat with the 2017 Chrysler Pacifica Limited) that was recorded in our test of the heaviest, all-wheel-drive version. Also helping the cause is a new, smooth-shifting eight-speed automatic transmission that doesn’t draw much attention to itself.

Combine that with the additional ratios of the eight-speed automatic, and the results are EPA ratings of 19 mpg city, 27 highway, and 22 combined with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive lowers those numbers to 18/24/20 mpg. The combined ratings represent 1-mpg improvements over 2016’s numbers, but more important is that the Toyota now ties the Honda and the Chrysler on combined fuel economy—the big number on the window sticker. Stop by Yokem Toyota today and come check out the all new 2017 Toyota Sienna today and take it for a test drive!

2017 Highlander will be first NA Toyota to get stop-start

You wouldn't know it to look at it, but there's something special happening under the hood of the 2017 Toyota Highlander. It's the debut of a relatively simple technology called stop-start, which can shut off the engine when the vehicle isn't moving. Other automakers have been doing this for years - and Toyota's hybrids obviously have it, in a sense – but this a new thing for Toyota.

Yokem Toyota introduces the all new 2017 Toyota Highlander. There are four engines (or engine variants) used in the various versions of the 2017 Highlander:

  • A 2.7-liter 4-cylinder Dual Overhead Cam (DOHC) Dual VVT-i offering 185 HP at 5,800 rpm and 184 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,200 rpm. This carryover engine will only be used in the gas-powered 4-cylinder LE trim.
  • A 3.5-liter V6 DOHC Atkinson Cycle-capable Dual VVT-iW/VVT-i engine which offers 295 HP at 6,600 rpm and 263 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. This is the engine in the gas-powered LE trim.
  • Another 3.5-liter V6, which is the same as the one above, but adds a stop-start system. This will be standard on the LE Plus, XLE, SE, Limited, and Limited Platinum trim.
  • A 3.5-liter V6 Atkinson cycle engine with Dual VVT-i offering 306 total horsepower. This is the engine used on all hybrid trim levels: Hybrid LE, LE Plus, XLE Hybrid, Limited, Limited Hybrid, and Platinum Hybrid.

The start-stop system is perhaps the most interesting addition to the new Highlander's powertrain. The 2017 Highlander is the first North American Toyota product to get stop-start. Williams said that Toyota expects about 85 percent of all 2017 Highlanders will get it, because internal projections suggest that about eight percent of all Highlanders sold this year will be the LE trim and seven percent will be hybrids. That seven percent, by the way, is up from about three percent for the 2016 Highlanders.

After shutting the engine off, the stop-start system is still able to provide electrical power to an equipped Highlander for two-to-three minutes at a stop light, Williams said. It is turned on by default with every ignition cycle, but customers can turn it off with the push of a button. There are certain conditions in which stop-start won't come on – if the AC is turned on to the maximum or if you're on a grade higher than eight degrees (Toyota didn't want to risk the vacuum brakes failing) – but Williams said that Toyota thinks most customers will just leave it on all the time. Williams said that by making start-stop the default setting, the Highlander gets a one-mile-per-gallon boost on its EPA fuel economy rating. Stop by Yokem Toyota today and check out the all new 2017 Toyota Highlander and take it for a test drive today!

The All New 2017 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO

World-wide the Tacoma pickup is one of Toyota’s best-selling vehicles, offering durability, performance, utility, and capability in a tried and true package. There seems to be a Tacoma for every need, but when it comes to off-road capability, no compact pickup truck we can think of comes close to matching the performance offered by the Tacoma TRD Pro. The new 2017 Tacoma TRD Pro takes all the off-road technological advances like Crawl Control (auto transmission only), an electronic rear locker, active traction control (manual transmission only), five-mode Multi-terrain Select system, and Hill Start Assist Control that earned the 2016 Tacoma TRD Off Road our 2016 4x4 of the Year award, and throws even more incredible off-road performance goodies on it. And it’s all at a price that you probably won’t believe.

Available only in Double Cab, short-bed models with the 278 hp, 265 lb-ft V-6 with a six-speed manual or six-speed auto transmission, the Tacoma TRD Pro can be had in three colors: Barcelona Red Metallic, Cement, and Super White. With a 3-year/36,000-mile comprehensive and 5-year/60,000-mile powertrain warranties and a price of $40,760 for the manual and $42,760 for the auto, it’s a deal that’s hard to pass up. The Tacoma TRD Pro color palate is bold and simple, with three really cool choices to select from: Barcelona Red Metallic, Cement, and Super White. It’s one way to really stand out apart from the crowd. Stop by Yokem Toyota today and come check out the all new 2017 Toyota Tundra TRD PRO and take it for a test drive and see for your self what all the hype is about!

2017 Toyota RAV4 Where Safety Comes Standard and New Levels of Luxury are Optional

Everybody loves the compact crossover SUV. Now the most popular type of vehicle in America, small crossovers are ready for just about anything you need to do, or just about anywhere you need to go, and at just about any time you want to go and to do. Among small crossovers, the 2017 Toyota RAV4 is one of the most popular models. Given that the RAV4 was one of the first crossover SUVs to go on sale in the U.S. more than 20 years ago, its success might be expected, if not deserved.

Toyota understands just how important the RAV4 is to its bottom line. Since its last complete redesign for 2013, the company has continually improved the RAV4, upgrading its crash protection, updating its safety and infotainment technologies, enhancing its equipment levels, refining its appearance and adding a hybrid version to the lineup. For 2017, the trend continues, with all versions of the RAV4 adding Toyota Safety Sense as standard equipment. A new Platinum trim level debuts, too, installing a higher level of standard equipment than Toyota has ever offered for the RAV4. Highlights of the RAV4 Platinum include a monochromatic exterior paint job, the top infotainment system with JBL stereo speakers, a top-down 360-degree view camera system, a heated steering wheel, ambient interior lighting, a power rear liftgate and numerous details designed to give the SUV a more upscale look and feel.

Thanks to standard Toyota Safety Sense (TSS), every 2017 RAV4 is equipped with a forward collision warning system that includes pedestrian detection technology and automatic emergency braking. The TSS package also installs adaptive cruise control, automatic high-beam headlights and a lane departure warning system with lane keeping assist. This change for 2017 means that all RAV4 models should earn the coveted “Top Safety Pick+” rating from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

Weighing just over 3,600 pounds, my RAV4 XLE AWD test vehicle’s 176-horsepower, 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine supplied merely adequate performance. On the very short, and occasionally non-existent entrance ramps providing access to the highways laced across northeastern Massachusetts, this engine worked overtime to enter traffic flow at a velocity anywhere close to prevailing speeds. Check out the all new 2017 Toyota RAV4 at Yokem Toyota and come take it for a test drive today!

The Toyota Prius Prime is the most efficient electrified car you can buy in the US

Back in March Toyota unveiled their shiny 2017 Prius Prime, said to have the best MPGe rating for a plug-in hybrid ever at around 120 MPGe. But according to EPA estimates, that was a conservative figure. The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime actually registers in at 133 MPGe – which makes it the most efficient electrified vehicle for sale in the US. Drivers can switch between hybrid mode and EV mode in the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime, and the ranges for both are substantial. The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime can get up to 54 miles per gallon, and it can drive 25 miles in EV mode. Although that’s less than some vehicles – the Chevy Volt has an electric range of 53 miles – the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime’s total 640 mile driving range is higher than the Volt’s 420 miles.

The 2017 Prius Prime can drive further than past Prius models due to larger batteries and “more powerful motors.” With a standard plug, the car can be charged in under five and a half hours. At many public charging stations, the car can be charged in just two hours and ten minutes. According to Toyota, the battery will “last for the life of the vehicle.” The 2017 Toyota Prius Prime solidly beats out the competition in terms of MPGe. The second most efficient, the BMW i3 hits 124 MPGe. The Volkswagen e-Golf and Nissan Leaf rate at 116 MPGe and 114 MPGe, respectively. The Tesla Model S 60D has a rating of 104 MPGe. Toyota says streamlined design is part of what makes the car so efficient. The hatch and rear glass window are aerodynamically formed, and LED signals and taillights, and “Quad-LED projector headlights” allow for efficient lighting. Check out the 2017 Toyota Prius Prime at Yokem Toyota today and come take it for a test drive.

Toyota Avalon: A Perfect Example of Premium Level Value, Now Advancing the Cause With Standard Toyota Safety Sense P

The Toyota Avalon has always been a benchmark for style, comfort and available hybrid fuel economy in the premium midsize sedan category, the 2017 Toyota Avalon increases its position for standard safety with the addition of Toyota Safety Sense-P (TSS-P) for all grades. The TSS-P system had previously been offered only as an option on the Limited grade. The system gives the Avalon Automatic High Beam, Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection and Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist.

The move to make TSS-P standard on all Avalon grades (and numerous other Toyota models) follows Toyota’s promise to offer TSS standard on nearly all its models by the end of 2017. That will put Toyota (and Lexus) four years ahead of the model-year 2022 industry target announced by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
The Avalon’s 3.5-liter, DOHC V6 with Dual VVT-i (Variable Valve Timing with intelligence) produces 268 horsepower at 6,200 rpm and 248 lb.-ft. of torque at 4,700 rpm. Teamed with a 6-speed automatic transmission, the V6 impresses with both its acceleration and its EPA-rated 24 MPG combined fuel economy (21 city/30 highway). All 2017 Avalon and Avalon Hybrid models come standard with Toyota Care, a complimentary plan covering normal factory-scheduled maintenance and 24-hour roadside assistance for two years or 25,000 miles, whichever comes first. Stop by Yokem Toyota Today and test drive the new Toyota Avalon 2017 today!
